Frequently asked questions

Answers to the questions New Orleans homeowners and businesses ask us most. Don’t see yours? Call 504.708.4144 or send us a message.

Is Crescent City Builders licensed and insured?

Yes. Crescent City Builders, LLC is a licensed Louisiana general contractor and carries insurance. We’re also a member of the Home Builders Association of Greater New Orleans, with our founder serving on its Board of Directors.

What areas do you serve?

We serve Greater New Orleans including Orleans, Jefferson and St. Tammany parishes — New Orleans, Metairie, Kenner, Slidell, Mandeville, Covington and surrounding communities.

What types of projects do you take on?

Custom home construction, commercial construction and build-outs, whole-home and kitchen/bath remodeling, home additions, green and energy-efficient building, hurricane-resistant construction and retrofits, and CAPS-certified aging-in-place modifications.

Do you provide free estimates?

Yes. We provide free, no-obligation estimates. After an initial consultation and site visit, we deliver a clear, itemized estimate so you can make informed decisions.

What does ‘Certified Green Professional’ mean for my project?

CGP is a National Association of Home Builders designation for builders trained in energy-efficient, resource-smart construction. In practice it means lower utility bills, better moisture control and a more durable, comfortable home — built in as standard, not sold as an add-on.

What is a CAPS-certified contractor?

Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist is an NAHB credential for contractors trained in modifications that help people live safely and independently at home as they age — things like curbless showers, zero-step entries and universal design.

How do you make homes more hurricane-resistant?

We focus on the continuous load path (roof-to-wall-to-foundation connections), wind-rated and sealed roofing, impact-resistant windows and doors, reinforced garage doors, and elevation where appropriate. These measures can also qualify for wind-mitigation insurance discounts.

Can you elevate or raise my existing home?

Yes. House elevation is a specialty in flood-prone areas. Raising a home above base flood elevation protects against flooding and can significantly reduce flood-insurance premiums.

Do you handle permits and inspections?

Yes. We manage permitting and inspections with the City of New Orleans and surrounding parishes, coordinating with architects and engineers as needed so your project is fully compliant.

How long will my project take?

It depends on scope. A bathroom remodel may take a few weeks; a custom home typically runs 8–14 months. We provide a realistic schedule up front and keep you updated throughout.

How much will my project cost?

Cost depends on size, finishes and site conditions. We’re transparent about pricing and provide itemized estimates so you understand exactly where your investment goes.

Do you offer a warranty?

Yes. We stand behind our work with a workmanship warranty and conduct a detailed final walkthrough to make sure everything meets our standard and yours.
